Humboldt Oral History Project

Humboldt's Oral History Project

For more than a century, Humboldt has made an impact on the lives of its students. That means you! And we want to hear your stories. Was there a favorite professor that made a difference in your career? Did you meet your spouse during your time at the University? Did you have a favorite local adventure spot? Do you have friends you’ve stayed in touch with? We want to know!

Forever Humboldt has paired up with PCI (Publishing Concepts Inc.) to create an oral history project that will connect Humboldt alumni across generations, professions, and locations through their shared experiences at Humboldt. Your memories are our legacy and what better way to preserve them than by creating a publication that will last.

There is no cost to participate in the oral history project and share your story. During your call with PCI, you’ll be given the opportunity to purchase the full printed version of the stories, exclusive Cal Poly Humboldt gear and make a donation. But, a purchase or donation are not required for participation.

What to expect?

On behalf of Forever Humboldt, PCI will be sending you a postcard and email to update your information and share your memories.

You will also receive a phone call from PCI seeing if you’d like to participate. This is when you can share your stories!

Some common themes for stories include:

  • Lifelong connections made on campus
  • The impact of receiving or giving a scholarship
  • Faculty or staff members who left a lasting impression
  • Student organization involvement that helped shape you
  • A career-defining experience or moment

The PCI staff will ask if you’d like to purchase the final product or a Cal Poly Humboldt shirt or if you’d like to make a donation to the university.  Again, they are contracted with Cal Poly Humboldt and their sales/donations comply with University policy.

Are you ready to share your story?

Don’t wait! You can call PCI directly at 888-887-0423, Monday through Friday from 7 am to 9 pm CT or Saturday from 8 am to 4:45 pm CT.

This project is a tribute to the past and future generations of Humboldt students and we are so excited to hear your memories celebrating your most treasured moments.
