After multiple layoffs from newspapers, magazines and tech websites, I've settled into deadline-free blogging and lite marketing for a small, Bay Area-based printing company. I might not be changing the world, but I'm stress-free, loving living in Oakland with my sister and two cats!

So thankful that HSU is still going strong, providing excellent educational and training programs for her students. My years at HSU set me up for success in my chosen field of special ed-speech path, and changed my life forever. Keep the dreams alive!

After graduation I spent three summers working as a hiking/backcountry guide in Skagway, Alaska. I now live in Lake Tahoe and enjoy any and all outdoor activities on a daily basis (especially rock climbing in the summer, and skiing in the winter). I currently work for the City of South Lake Tahoe as the Environmental Programs Analyst. I have also recently become engaged and will be married next August. I'm looking forward to a road trip to Humboldt so I can show my fiance the amazing campus at HSU, the redwoods and the incredible coastline!

Just comlpeted a career-crowning project: restoration of a degraded wetland site in the middle of the Mount San Jacinto State Wilderness.
Coordinating State Park, CCC, Army National Guard, and several vendors' resources, we overcame controversy and successfully implemented a project to repair a rare and fragile montane meadow. To do so required legislation to allow use of heavy equipment for a restoration project in State Wilderness, and we did so with an absolute minimum of public or environmental impact.

I'm applying for grad schools and need to take the GRE. I'm not in the area anymore. Can you send me a GRE fee waiver form to my address above? I called the GRE hotline and they said to contact my undergraduate school for a GRE fee waiver form.

Married alumnus Jennifer Wilcox (MA Env.Ed., 1992), though we didn't know each other at HSU. Met working at redwood State Parks. We have two sons ages 8 and 6. I have been in environmental consulting for almost 12 years after stints with parks & recreation and museum science education. Jennifer is back at State Parks after community relations work in utilities, water agencies, and Program Director of an outdoor science school.
