I'm celebrating 15 years of retirement after a 35 year career with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service; about to celebrate 50 years of marriage to Sally Harris (we met in the dorms at Humboldt 1959); and am finishing up the manuscript for my fifth book, this one of California history as told by the California condor story.

After leaving Arcata, I moved down to Jamestown in Ca's Motherlode. Here I manage Jamestown Harley-Davidson with my wife, Karen (a 1999 graduate in Recreational Administration). We have two children, our dog we got in Mckinleyville, and a hamster.

I have retired from a long-time working as a Public Heath Nurse in Humboldt County (28yrs.) I then went back to my alma mater and acheived a BA in music (my 2nd Love) in May, 2009. I'm not doing too much now--recovering from my open heart surgery last July. I really enjoy helping my 2 young granddaughters, ages 5 and 7 with their piano lessons. That's all for now!

After 18 years as a public servant (National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service), I left the agencies to teach environmnetal education full time. After another 18 years of doing just that, the bottom has now fallen out of my funding, so I'm back to rangering again! My husband and I also farm organically, with the help of our mules, and have homesteaded in the upper Skagit (near North Cascades National Park)for almost 30 years. Vistors are always welcome!

After multiple layoffs from newspapers, magazines and tech websites, I've settled into deadline-free blogging and lite marketing for a small, Bay Area-based printing company. I might not be changing the world, but I'm stress-free, loving living in Oakland with my sister and two cats!

So thankful that HSU is still going strong, providing excellent educational and training programs for her students. My years at HSU set me up for success in my chosen field of special ed-speech path, and changed my life forever. Keep the dreams alive!

After graduation I spent three summers working as a hiking/backcountry guide in Skagway, Alaska. I now live in Lake Tahoe and enjoy any and all outdoor activities on a daily basis (especially rock climbing in the summer, and skiing in the winter). I currently work for the City of South Lake Tahoe as the Environmental Programs Analyst. I have also recently become engaged and will be married next August. I'm looking forward to a road trip to Humboldt so I can show my fiance the amazing campus at HSU, the redwoods and the incredible coastline!
