My sixth book, King Philip's War: Colonial Expansion, Native Resistance, and the End of Indian Sovereignty was published by Johns Hopkins University Press in fall 2010. Recently it was named an “Outstanding Academic Title for 2010” by the American Library Association’s Choice.

After graduating, I worked for six months as a research assistant on a project through Tulane University concerning the reproductive strategies of male capuchin monkeys. Although it was an amazing and life-changing experience, I came out of it knowing that I would much rather work with people than primates, and am currently seeking admission to HSU's elementary education program.

I teach Algebra I and physical science in 8th grade at Fortuna Middle School. I have coached soccer, track, and basketball and have also served as Vice Principal and Athletic Director. I received an MA in elementary education from the University of San Francisco, and an MA in educational technology leadership from The George Washington University in Washington D.C. I have just finished a doctorate re: the relationship of multiplication tables and fraction skills to learning algebra. My wife and I have two children and enjoy dancing, skiing, softball, and coaching basketball.

Pleased that her Arcadia Publishing Campus History "Humboldt State University" is selling well. Contemplating writing a new book on the 49 railroads that existed in Humboldt & Mendocino counties.

I have been accepted to UCLA's Anthropology PhD program, with full funding for four years, and will be studying under the guidance of renowned Anthropology professor Sherry Ortner starting in Fall 2011.

After graduating in December 1998 from HSU with my BA in Anthropology and Geography (double major) I began working as a shovel bum for archaeological consulting firms and the U.S. Forest Service. After traveling around California as an archaeological technician for a few years, I started graduate school at CSU, Chico and completed my thesis with an emphasis on CRM and zooarchaeology. I am currently the North Coast Redwoods District Archaeologist and am stationed in Eureka. My academic and professional career has taken me full circle, and I am now raising my family in Humboldt County.

Immediately after graduation I worked for the Humboldt Area Foundation on different grant programs, which provided me with a wonderful experience in the field of grant writing and grant review. A year later I was invited to work with the State of California as a Native American Liaison for the Department of Transportation. I gained a lot of experience starting my freshman year at Humboldt working on campus for the Center for Indian Community Development. I believe that my degree in History has prepared me to succeed at my job. Two out of the three of our Native American Liaisons have their degrees in History.

I was accepted into the University of Oregon's Historic Preservation Program, which is a M.S. Degree. I also received a competitive scholarship based on "academic achievement and diligence."
